ASAP established the annual Lone Star Awards in 2006 to recognize individuals from outside the direct provider community for their work in advancing substance use disorder prevention, treatment, and recovery support services. The Lone Star Award allows ASAP members to offer statewide recognition to local community leaders who have made a significant impact. Three award categories were created to honor an outstanding (1) individual, (2) organization, and (3) government representative for their contributions.

 

In 2018, ASAP introduced a Lone Star Award category specifically for front line staff at member organizations. This award category acknowledges the important role that front line staff have within any organization and allows members to recognize a staff member who has shown notable dedication to the organization and the individuals served.

 

Nominations for each award category are received directly from ASAP members.  The ASAP Board of Directors reviews all candidates and selects the recipient for each category. We encourage members to take a moment to think about the people and organizations that have made a difference in your local area and submit a nomination in one or all award categories.
